Getting your first home in Penang is exciting, but measuring curtains for the first time can be headache! To make sure your curtain fits perfectly in one go without expensive alterations, follow our simple guide below.
Whether you are looking for curtain installation in Penang Island or DIY-ing, remember these 3 main points:
1. The Width: Don’t Make It Too Short!
To ensure your window is fully covered with no light leaking from the sides, we recommend adding 10cm to both ends.
Formula: Window Width + 20cm = Ideal Railing Length.
Example: If your window is 140cm wide, your railing should be 160cm.
2. The Height (Wall Mount): Give It Some Space
For standard wall brackets, don’t install them right at the edge of the frame.
Top: Install the bracket 10cm above the window frame.
Bottom: Add 40cm to 60cm extra length below the window frame for a "full" look.
Example: Window height 120cm + 10cm (top) + 40cm (bottom) = 170cm total curtain length.
3. The Height (Ceiling Mount): Precision is Key
If you want that modern "floor-to-ceiling" look, precision is everything.
Measure twice: Ensure the railing is level.
Avoid "Floating" Curtains: If measured wrongly, your curtain will either drag on the floor (collecting dust) or stay too high above the balcony sliding door.
Pro Tip: Always measure from the ceiling to 1-2cm above the floor for that perfect "just touching" look.
